Latest US mobile market figures: 1 billion text messages per day
In the opening keynote at the CTIA Wireless IT and Entertainment show, the trade group’s president, Steve Largent, touted some stats from its recently released semi-annual research on the US mobile market. The CTIA says there were over 243.4 million mobile subscribers in the US, representing some 81% of the population. These users sent 28.8 billion SMS in June, and are now sending more than 1 billion text messages per day. Who says that the Mobile Web will overtake sms? Probably interesting to find research about the total volume of mobile web page requests per day…
Stories from mobile classified users – classified content under the microscope
The first professional traders are successfully selling products and services over the Mobiya platform. Someone in the Brussels region has received over 300 leads in the last three months. He sells weight-loss programs, low-cost mobile phone subscriptions and is offering search services for domestic workers by placing mobile classified advertisements on the SMS Deal marketplace.
Mr. Julio, a professional trader told us "the leads that I receive are of superb quality and always delivered directly to my mobile – instantly. People responding to my advertisements pay 50 cents and are serious. Other free online classified services that I used in the past have brought me more crap than business!"
Also interesting is the growing importance of the mobile classified content itself, as Metro Belgium received a letter from the "Global Action in the Interest of Animals," or GAIA in short. One of the GAIA activists spotted a classified ad for pets and wrote us a friendly letter asking us to respect the animal welfare. We agree, and I remember eBay receiving thousands of complaints after their plans to lift the ban on trading live animals in 2005 (USA Today).
Mobiya introduces Mobiya System 1.1 for Mobile Dating & Personals market
Mobiya today introduced Mobiya System 1.1, the industry’s first fully integrated mobile classified platform for the Mobile Dating and Personals market. This release of the Mobiya Application suite further delivers on the company vision for helping media publishers and classified portals achieve higher returns on their classified business. The Mobile Dating and Personals market is rapidly moving from online only communications to mobile interactivity. Mobiya enters this market through its patent pending classified locking system that hides and reveals personal information when users unlock the code of contact advertisements via sms. This allows the advertiser to control the complete lifecycle of his contact ad using his mobile device and staying completely anonymous. Responses are directly sent to the advertiser’s mobile phone over sms.
According to a recent study from Juniper Research, the Mobile Dating market will reach $1 Billion in revenues in 2012. Some of the existing mobile dating portals are expanding their mobile offerings, but cannot provide an integrated user experience.
This version takes classified automation to new heights with the following enhancements for our media publishers:
- Advanced moderator control panel for classified operators
- Ad secret service for upselling of hidden messages
- Pre-press integration and classified export function
- Sales management system for classified activity tracking
- Advanced premium SMS billing management
We are proud to announce that two customers have signed up for this new release: In the UK, The Daily Sport (Sport Newspapers), the most popular English tabloid. Back in Belgium, Koopjeskrant, the classified leader is launching a new Mobile Dating service later this year: 123 Contact.
